Preliminary- filming.

Yesterday we managed to film all of the music video recreation successfully. The team worked very well together and we worked very hard to make sure each shot was similar to the original Jessie J music video.
Although costume didn't play a big deal in the clip each of us tried our hardest to match costumes up to make it look as effective as we can. Our camera prop we all made looked very good and looked similar to the one in the music video. It shows we went into detail for the music video to make it look as good as we can.
I am proud of my group as we all managed to co operate well together and take in each others idea's to make it successful. I am looking forward to see the clips from the other group too and putting all the clips together.

Preliminary- location.

Luckily because the original music video is set in a school it will be easy to access similar locations.

We have booked out the school theatre for the inset day coming up so we can film the parts where the young Jessie J is in the hall/theatre. In the music video there is a Hollywood dropback in the background and we can do the same in our theatre by projecting the same picture onto a white dropback. Therefore the location will look pretty similar.

During the corridor scenes we have decided to film down in lower school in one of their corridors which has similar lighting to the one in the music video. The corridor is the right size to film and it is bright because it has so many windows which give in light and if we do it on a day where it is sunny it will be a bonus. However if we did it on a rainy day it could reflect the mood of how young Jessie is feeling because of everyone picking on her.

For the cafeteria part we have booked out the schools ATE centre which is a cafeteria. We have similiar food stands to the ones used in the music video which is helpful. I think because we are using a very similar location for this part it will make it look very effective if we film it right and depending if the school staff will allow us to chuck trays and cups.

Preliminary- planning.

In todays lesson me and Toby went to art to paint the props we will need for our music video. We managed to paint all of the camera that is in the music video behind young Jessie, we just need to stick it all together. Whereas the rest of the group practiced shots that involve them, such as the corridor bits and the bits in the theatre, so we are ready to film fully next wednesday. I still need to practice the part of the cafeteria woman as we haven't done that yet, therefore we will probably get that done this week.
I think it's important that we practice filming before we decide to film for real because it gives us more experience with the camera and also we can learn what shots we need to do and where they come in in the music video.

Preliminary- filming times.

We have all agreed to get our filming done on the inset day which is the 26th of June. This way we have the whole day from 9am to complete our filming. We had to ask permission from members of staff to ensure we were able to film in the areas we wanted to.

After we have filmed our group then individually has to edit the music video to their own standards, we have until the summer holidays to complete this.

Preliminary- props.

We have realised we will need props in all the parts we are filming.

In the corridor part we have to mimic a sculpture of the solar system. We will create this by blowing up different coloured balloons to different sizes and stick them on sticks from the art block which will hopefully hold them securely. Young Jessie also rips paper from the wall whilst storming from her classroom, we will create the same effect by sticking a few pieces of paper onto the wall in the corridor we are using that our young Jessie can rip off.

In the theatre part we will need several props and will probably have to end up making some ourselves. We are currently making the camera used within the clip by using a painted cereal box and a plant pot for the lense. Young Jessie knocks down a 12 foot board and we realised we could never find one anywhere so we will elaborate a little and make her knock something else over like a few boxes or something similar. Our group will also be trying to find other props from the prop cupboard at school that could resemble the other smaller boards she pushes over.

In the cafeteria part young Jessie chucks food, trays and cups of juice. Obviously we cannot chuck food and juice in the cafeteria we are using so we will have to pretend to and make sure it looks just as effective. We can most probably use the trays and plastic cups provided at school so we don't have to worry about buying anything, we just need to make sure nothing gets damaged.

These are a few props we will attempt to make;

Preliminary- makeup.

In the video make up is expressed differently between each characters.

Young Jessie barely wears any make up but a bit of mascara may emphasise her eyes on the close ups. This is the makeup of young Jessie;

The cleaner wears no makeup at all which gives her the rough look she has, so by making our actor wear no makeup she can look rather similar to her. This is makeup of the cleaner;

Differently to all the others the cafeteria woman wears a lot of make up which is a bit exaggerated. This shows off her different personality to the others because she wants to stand out. This is the make up we are using for the cafeteria part (however the eye make up isn't great as I didn't have hold of any blue eyeshadow);

Preliminary- costumes.

In our piece of the music video we have the characters of young Jessie, the cleaner and the cafeteria woman.

The costumes for all 3 people are very different and imply the personalities of them. For example young Jessie J is wearing a black baseball jacket, black top and black shorts. This shows she doesn't really want to stand out much from others and would just would rather blend in. The cleaner in the theatre has no makeup on and a gold tooth, she is also wearing a snap back and a tracksuit which stereotypically shows she doesn't really have the best of backgrounds and maybe lives in a rough area.
The women in the cafeteria is pretty much the same as the cleaner wearing the tracksuit, but has bleach blonde hair, a lot of jewellry on and exaggerated makeup which kind of gives off she has near enough the same background the cleaner does.

In our music video we want to try and get the costumes of the 3 characters in the clip to make it look like we have copied it exactly. Although we do not get marked for this video and the main focus is on camerawork, editing and lip syncing, we thought it would be good to show we have at least put a bit of effort into recreating this music video to our best standards.

Young Jessie J is going to wear a similar outfit to the one in the music video, shown below;

The cleaner in our clip will wear something like this;

The cafeteria woman will wear something similar to this;

Preliminary- risk assessment.

James Allsop was put in charge of completing a risk assessment for our filming. We have to look out for the dangers we may be faced with incase it affects our filming. Here is the risk assessment he created:

Preliminary- organising roles.

As team leader it is my role to make sure people within my group have something to do so we can get our planning and researching done a lot quicker. When each person from our group is given a task to do they will do researching on what we need to complete and put it on their blogs and the rest of our group will embed that to their blog therefore we all have the same posts and research, but credit them for it as well which means there is no plagerism.

The roles in our music video: Young Jessie= Laura Bryan
Cleaner= Ellie Topp
Cafeteria Lady= Me/Faith Roberts
Camera people= James Allsop and Rebecca Dear (also if they are in a part and they can't film then either Toby Charlesworth or Joe Fox will fill in)
Director= James Allsop

Extra's= Toby Charlesworth and Joe Fox as boys walking through corrdiors,
Me and Rebecca Dear as the 'pink girls'.
Props= All of us
Makeup= Me and Ellie Topp
Costume= Me, Laura Bryan and Ellie Topp

Preliminary- practice shots.

Yesterday we thought it would be a good idea for us to get some practice shots done before our actual filming, just so we can learn the shots we need to put into our bit of filming thoroughly. As Laura was covering for drama we had to use Griff as our young Jessie J and below is the video we filmed on the cameras we are using for our preliminary. This footage has been taken from Griff's youtube page.

Preliminary- shot by shot.

A member of our group has been asked to create a shot by shot of all the shots that will help us during filming. This will be used by all members of our group to put on to their blogs so none of us have missed out shots others have.
Here is the shot by shot, done on slideshare by Rebecca Dear.

Preliminary Task- recreation of a Jessie J music video.

For A2 our first task is to recreate Jessie J's music video 'Who's Laughing Now'. The reason this video has been chosen for us is because it is set in a school and is very convenient for us.

The class has been split into two groups to recreate the video. Our group is doing the corridor shots whereas the other group are shooting the classroom shots. In my group I have chosen to be team leader which means it is my responsibility to make sure our group is always on task and everyone knows what they're doing when we are in and out of class.

This is the music video we have to recreate:
